Located about 50 miles north of Anchorage, this private waterfront lodge is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the ruggedness and off the grid peace of Alaska’s interior in the finest accommodations. Shulin Lake is one of Alaska's best kept secrets, great King Salmon and Rainbow Trout fishing, ATV and snowmobile riding along with some of the best hunting around. The original build took 7 years and cost over 6 million dollars.
The main lodge sits on more than 9 acres of land, has 6,400 SF of space and features 5 bedrooms consisting of the top floor master suite that includes 1 bedroom with king bed, another bedroom with a queen bed and a loft with a shared bathroom. The main floor bedroom features 2 queen beds and a full bath. The 2 lower-level bedrooms offer a queen, a twin bed, and full bathroom. The lower level also features a bar, pool table, dart board, TV that walks out to the hot tub. The Walnut hardwood floors are boiler heated adding to the wintertime comfort. The gourmet kitchen features Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine cooler, Wolfe stove, butler’s pantry, breakfast bars and a 20-foot-tall fireplace in the main living room.
In addition to the main house, the compound includes the original “camp” when the property was being built that has been converted into a “bunk” house. The bunk house includes the care takers quarters with an additional 8 bedrooms each with a twin bed. The bunk house features a living room, kitchen, laundry room, and two full baths. Additionally, there is a covered boat shack, fish shack (storage of rods/reels), fish cleaning station, boiler shack (boiler/wood), workshop (ATV’s, snow machines, generators, back up battery power station) and a nearby airport for small planes and a helipad on site.
The property is situated in close proximity to groomed trails that lead to incredible salmon fishing on the Kahiltna River. King salmon in excess of 40 pounds are caught in early June through early July. Silvers, weighing 10-12 pounds, are caught in early August through mid-September. River rainbow trout are found at nearby Peter’s Creek, or the more cunning variety of lake rainbows can be latched onto just steps away from the lodge on the local lake. Other activities include panning for gold, wildlife viewing, ATV trail riding, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling and enjoying the sounds of nature.
There are no roads, no street lights, no cars. The only noise is nature or the Kahiltna River three miles away. It truly is peace and quiet at its finest. Relax and enjoy nature up close. Enjoy the view from the front deck. Experience world class hunting and fishing. Who knows, maybe the moose or fox that are in abundance will come to visit. On a clear day you can see Mt Denali from the dock.
The property is accessible by prop planes, float planes and helicopters in the summer season. Float planes fly off Lake Hood adjacent to Stevens International Airport in Anchorage for a fun filled 45-minute flight over the raw Alaska landscape. If a chopper is more your style, the property has its own private helipad to serve you. There is also a private runway a short distance from the property that can accommodate most personal aircraft. In the winter season the lodge is a 20 mile trail ride on snow machines or other all-terrain vehicles.
